Performance Coaching
Performance Coaching enables people to raise their performance and consistency in any chosen activity. This is achieved by using the Inner Game, Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) or a combination of the two.
Both these very powerful approaches are complex and multi-faceted. Simply though, this is how one strand of each discipline works.
Inner Game
Our bodies perform skills in response to instructions from our minds. Our minds are composed of two parts – the conscious and the subconscious.
The subconscious mind generally knows how to perform a skill and sends out messages to the various parts of the body to achieve this. Unfortunately the conscious mind, which produces that continuous chatterbox in our heads, says things like, “Be careful...”, “You messed this up last time...”, “I just need this one to win …” etc. These messages from the conscious mind interfere with the messages being sent by the subconscious causing a lowering of performance.
Similarly, our subconscious mind invariably knows what is best in any given situation. This is commonly known as intuition. The conscious mind though, wanting to be in control and make a “logical” decision, chatters away and often blocks access to the wisdom of our subconscious.
A major strand of the Inner Game is using techniques to quieten the conscious mind so that we can access the full power of the subconscious whenever we choose. This then allows us to consistently produce better results.
NLP
People respond to situations or perform skills according to the neurophysiological state they are in at the time. If they are in a negative state their behaviour will be negative and their performance poor. If, however, they are in a positive state their behaviour and performance will be strong and effective.
We all move in and out of different states all the time. One of the strands of NLP enables us to enter a positive state whenever we choose so that we can consistently perform well.
Performance coaching can help you produce considerably better results. If you have any questions, or would like to explore things further, do please call or e-mail me.
